CHEMICALS PEELS FOR ACNE TREATMENT
BHA or Salicylic Acid
Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) with a phenolic ring within its chemical structure. Commonly known as BHA, it is extremely effective in treating acne due to its ability to penetrate and dissolve the intercellular components responsible for maintaining a blemish's structure. The salicylic peel also has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce facial redness and lighten areas that have darkened due to acne related inflammation.
AHA or Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) and a popular superficial peeling agent that exfoliates the skin while also correcting the root causes of acne. It used to be believed that AHA was less effective in treating acne-related inflammation than salicylic acid, but this has recently been disproven in medical studies. A glycolic facial peel is able to dramatically reduce acne inflammation by inhibiting and destroying harmful bacteria.
Jessner’s Peel
A Jessner's peel consists of a combination of therapeutic ingredients : lactic acid, salicylic acid and resorcinol. The strength of the peel can be customized in order to provide patients with a deep, effective peel suitable to address their acne.
BLUE SPECTUM LIGHT THERAPY $85 for 30 mins/ or for series of 5 is $380
Destroys bacteria, banishing blemishes. This FDA-approved acne treatment has been shown to decrease
blemishes by 73% after only eight 30 minutes sessions. Blue light therapy is considered to be a pain-free.
During treatment, skin is exposed to intense blue light which is used to kill bacteria that causes acne. Blue
Light Therapy can also treat skin conditions like dark circles under the eyes by increasing the elastin protein
in skin. The light does not contain UV rays, so it does not cause cancer. Can also be done in a series of 8,
15 minute sessions for smaller areas.
How Blue Light Acne Treatment Works
When the skin is exposed to the high intensity Blue Spectrum light, the response is a creation of oxygen molecules inside the sebaceous gland that destroy the bacteria (called P.Acnes) and help the healing process. With the bacteria gone, acne begins to clear up and skin begins to heal.
Add-on extraction for $20
Scar Treatments
Acne Scars Are Not Permanent!
Get ready to love looking in the mirror again! To see and touch your smoother, healthier and happier face! Unfair as it may be, severe cystic acne during the teen years may leave some individuals with deeply scarred skin, but living with acne scars is not the only option.
Acne scars appear when your skin is unable to rejuvenate itself after an acne lesion goes away. The inflammation associated with the lesion can damage skin tissue causing it to collapse and leave a scar.

peels for an even faster result. You may feel a slight sunburn after your session. 4 session is recommended for a
good result. Please do NOT tan before or during IPL therapy. IPL acne treatment can be added to any facial for an additional $80

Before Your IPL Acne Facial
-
Discontinue sun tanning and the use of tanning beds and self-tanning creams 4 weeks before your IPL Acne Facial at L'AMI Skincare, and throughout the treatment course. This will reduce the chance of skin color changes, and development of new lesions. Always use an SPF-30 or greater sunscreen on all exposed treatment areas and re-apply every 2 hours throughout the day. Wear protective, light-occluding hats and clothing.
-
Discontinue use of exfoliating creams such as Retin-A and other skin exfoliating products 2 weeks prior to and during the entire IPL acne facial treatment course.
-
If you have a history of herpes outbreaks in the area of treatment you should consult your Primary Care Provider for medical evaluation and possible prophylaxis prior to your IPL acne facial treatment.
After Your IPL Acne Facial
-
A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected after any IPL acne facial. This usually last 2 – 24 hours but can persist up to 72 hours. Mild swelling and/or redness may accompany this, which usually resolves in 2 – 3 days.
-
Apply cool/ice compresses to treatment areas for 10 – 15 minutes every hour for the next 4 hours after your IPL acne facial, as needed, to reduce discomfort and heat sensation. An oral, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, such as acetaminophen may be taken to reduce discomfort. Use according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
-
In some cases, prolonged redness or blistering may occur. An antibiotic ointment may be applied to the affected areas twice a day until healed.
-
Bathe or shower as usual after your acne facial with IPL. Areas treated with IPL may be temperature sensitive. Cool showers or baths will offer relief. Avoid aggressive scrubbing and the use of exfoliants, scrub brushes and loofah sponges until the treatment area has returned to its pre-treatment condition.
-
Until redness has completely resolved from your IPL acne treatment avoid all of the following:
-
Applying cosmetics on or near treated areas
-
Swimming, especially in pools with chemicals/chlorine
-
Hot tubs and Jacuzzis
-
Activities that cause excessive perspiration
-
-
Sun exposure to treated areas (apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater)
-
To prevent infection and scarring, do not scratch or pick scabs or crusting.
After Acne Facial with IPL:
There may be an initial flare-up of acne, similar to the kind seen after a peel procedure or the beginning of a new topical or oral acne medication after the first acne facial treatment. Some of the blemishes may form scabs. Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs. The acne blemishes will fade about 2-3 weeks after the acne facial. A 40% reduction in the number of acne lesions and the prevention of new lesion formation can be expected following the treatment course.
Medication Precaution:
Please inform our specialist of both prescription and non-prescription medications you are taking. Be sure to include herbal and natural remedies as some may cause photosensitivity. Consumers should not be taking Accutane, anti-coagulants or St. John’s Wort prior to IPL photo facial treatment.
